Hello, I'm the owner of nomad4u.com. I'd like to share my experiences as a digital nomad in Seoul. Seoul, as the capital and one of the most modern cities in Asia, offers a compelling lifestyle for digital nomads. The fast internet speed, convenient transportation, delicious food, diverse culture, and friendly people make Seoul an attractive city for remote work. Here are my top 5 favorite aspects of digital nomad life in Seoul:
1. Coworking Space at Gangnam Station
Gangnam Station is a vibrant and bustling area in Seoul with numerous shops, restaurants, bars, clubs, and cafes. I personally utilize a coworking space near Gangnam Station. These shared workspaces provide high-speed internet, comfortable seating, a quiet atmosphere, and amenities like coffee and snacks. It also allows networking with other digital nomads. My favorite coworking space in Gangnam is [FastFive], offering 24-hour access for 15,000 won per day.
2. View from Namsan Tower
Namsan Tower is a landmark in Seoul, situated atop Namsan Mountain, providing a panoramic view of the city at 236 meters high. I enjoy going up to Namsan Tower to admire Seoul's skyline, using the cable car for a scenic ascent (round trip: 14,000 won). The entrance fee to the tower is 16,000 won (50% discount with a Clue app). The view from the observation deck is breathtaking, especially overlooking the Han River, Dongdaemun Design Plaza, and Lotte World Tower.
3. Food and Culture in Hongdae
Hongdae is a trendy and youthful area in Seoul, known for its arts and culture due to its association with Hongik University. Hongdae offers a variety of restaurants, cafes, bars, clubs, shopping malls, galleries, and performance venues. I enjoy exploring diverse cuisines in Hongdae, not only Korean but also Thai, Vietnamese, Mexican, Italian, etc. My favorite restaurant is [On The Border], specializing in Mexican cuisine. Hongdae also provides opportunities to experience street performances, art exhibitions, shopping, dancing, reading in cafes, and socializing in bars.
4. History in Gwanghwamun
Gwanghwamun is one of Seoul's historical areas, featuring the iconic Gyeongbokgung Palace from the Joseon Dynasty. I appreciate learning about and respecting history in Gwanghwamun. Visiting Gyeongbokgung allows me to explore the buildings and gardens where kings and queens lived. The entrance fee is 3,000 won, and I find the impressive Geunjeongjeon particularly captivating. Other historical sites in Gwanghwamun include the National Folk Museum, the National Museum of Korea, Sejong Center, and Cheonggyecheon Stream.
5. Shopping in Myeongdong
Myeongdong is one of Seoul's most famous and popular shopping districts, offering various stores, department stores, convenience stores, cosmetic shops, clothing stores, accessory shops, and shoe stores. I enjoy shopping in Myeongdong, especially at [Uniqlo], a Japanese fashion brand known for affordable, comfortable, and practical clothing. I look for discounts and sales while exploring Myeongdong, engaging with people from different countries, staying updated on Korean fashion trends, and having a delightful time.
In conclusion, I've introduced my digital nomad life in Seoul and shared my top 5 favorites. Seoul, in my opinion, is an appealing city for digital nomads.
